Former Argentina President Cristina Kirchner to Testify in 'Notebooks' Case

Buenos Aires, March 11 (NA) – Former President Cristina Kirchner will have to give a personal statement in the 'Notebooks' case. She will do so on Tuesday, March 17, at 9:00 AM, in the Auditorium of the Oral Criminal Court No. 7.

In his statement, Kirchner's lawyer, Carlos Beraldi, reiterated once more that the notebooks presented as evidence were 'manipulated' and therefore should not be part of the supposed evidence taken in the case.

Furthermore, he pointed out that the statements of the 31 accused, classified as collaborators, were made under extortion.

The TOF 7, composed of Fernando Canero, Enrique Méndez Signori, and Germán Castelli, must decide on the preliminary motions that have been made so far and will be responsible for investigating the alleged network of bribes and cartelization of public works between 2003 and 2015.

Although the court confirmed the start of the schedule with the former president, other high-profile accused are also cited for this phase of the process, such as De Vido and other former officials and businessmen linked to the case.

This summons comes in the wake of the rejection of the nullity request presented by the defense of the former head of state and other accused, such as former Planning Minister Julio De Vido.

In their defense, they argued irregularities in the instruction and questioned the veracity of the testimonies of the 'repentant'.
